Today, October 24, we celebrate UN Day
UN Day offers the opportunity to amplify the common agenda.
United Nations Day, on 24 October, marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories the United Nations officially came into being.
UN Day, celebrated every year, offers the opportunity to amplify the common agenda and reaffirms the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided the way for the past 79 years. That is why the common agenda is, above all, an agenda of action designed to accelerate the implementation of existing agreements, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The team of the UNESCO Chair is guided and significantly influenced by these principles and SDGs in its research work, SDG 3 "Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages" and 4 "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all" in particular.
