Learning by going

“Learning by going” is the motto of the Switzerland-wide campaign that was launched today at all higher institutions by Movetia, the National Agency for Exchange and Mobility of Switzerland. The campaign aims to motivate all students to go abroad as part of their education.

The required effort to do so is rewarded with an enriched curriculum and CV, priceless intercultural insights, valuable personal development, and plenty of fun. You can also win interrail passes on the Movetia campaign website.

" Learning by going " could be not only your daily motto, but also that of the entire International Office of the University of Basel: Its responsibilities range from cooperation agreements for mobility and research to intercultural training, staff weeks, and welcoming and supporting international newcomers.

Immerse yourself in a foreign culture, develop new skills and broaden your personal horizons. The UNESCO Chair team recommends such an exchange - it is of unique, enriching and lifelong value - far beyond professional aspects...

  • A stay abroad allows you to immerse yourself in another culture. You will get to know the local way of life, improve your language skills and make international friends. These experiences will broaden your horizons and allow you to see the world from a different perspective.
  • During your stay, you will not only expand your professional knowledge, but also acquire important soft skills. These include intercultural skills, independence and problem-solving skills.
  • An exchange semester is a unique opportunity to live abroad without interrupting your studies and before professional or personal commitments prevent you from doing so. You discover the world outside your usual environment.

The Student Exchange team of the University of Basel is here to help you keep this effort manageable ( contact: Gerald Zimmermann).
