KaziBantu - A Swiss-South African initiative to promote health literacy

Research.swiss is a central platform that highlights scientific and technological cooperation opportunities between Switzerland and various countries on other continents. The new platform, launched by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) in collaboration with Swissnex, aims to facilitate bilateral cooperation in research and innovation by providing researchers, universities and innovators with a comprehensive overview of the main funding instruments, calls for joint research projects and mobility programmes.

KaziBantu, a Swiss-South African initiative to promote health literacy in primary schools, is now part of Research.swiss. Under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair on 'Physical Activity and Health in Educational Settings', the KaziBantu project aims to improve and promote health literacy as a means to a healthy and active lifestyle in collaboration with local partners. The University of Basel with the Department of Sport, Physical Activity and Health, the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute are involved in this project.

Further information on the project can be obtained from Prof. Uwe Pühse (Principal investigator), Prof. Markus Gerber or Dr. Ivan Müller (Project Coordinator).
