This book publication summarizes new developments in the Public Health Research Topic “Health Promotion in Schools, Universities, Workplaces, and Communities”.

Influencing people's health and well-being takes place in locations and social contexts where people spend about their daily activities and where environmental, political, organizational and individual factors interact. The research topic “Health promotion in schools, universities, workplaces and communities” contained 44 research articles for publication. Of these, 9 deal with health promotion in schools, 15 in universities, 5 in the workplace and 15 in communities.

The research presented in these 44 papers on the public health research topic “Health promotion in schools, universities, workplaces and communities” originates from 18 countries and shows how vibrant this field of research is worldwide, presenting different approaches and perspectives that enrich this current field of research.

The research team from the University of Basel and Nelson Mandela University has made a contribution entitled "Intervention effects and long-term changes in physical activity and cardiometabolic outcomes among children at risk of noncommunicable diseases in South Africa: a cluster-randomized controlled trial and follow-up analysis" (page 22 onwards).
